What draws us to the mountains Winter, Spring, Summer, & Fall is our Alpine Obsession
I've been wanting to create a website for while now, it was just a matter of sitting down and getting it started. My idea for this site is to provide a platform for me to share my adventures and hobbies with friends, family, or anybody who has an interest in mountain related sports. Over the last couple years, I have been fortunate to get out and go on a great number of adventures. Having the Cascades as my backyard presents plenty of opportunties for unforgetable adventures.
By mountain people standards, the stuff in this website I am sure is pretty basic and run of the mill, but for those who are not well versed in the outdoors, it may seem pretty extreme. The main thing to keep in mind, all the trips, adventures, and stories in the following links are all done by my friends, desk jockies striving to break free from their laptops and offices. Amateur climbers and skiers just out looking for excitement, looking to connect with the outdoors and eachother. We're out in the mountains because we love it, it fuels us, it makes us stronger physically and mentally. For me personally, it adds more meaning to my life. We set objectives and work towards them. The physical and mental battle you fight along the way, changes you. To acheive an objective you set fills you with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
In the evolution to becoming an accomplished mountaineer, I would say I am in my infancy. Still so much to learn. But the skills I do have allowed me to explore a wide array of terrain year round. I started off peak bagging Colorado's 14ers, my first experience with the affects of altitude. I climbed 9 of them before moving to Seattle. In the two years up here I started off Mountaineering, climbing the big volcanoes by the easy routes. Basic glacier travel. From there I moved into doing these same climbs but on skis. The introduction of Backcountry skiing or Ski Mountaineering opened up a new world of mountain adventures. This last summer I have started venturing into Traditional Climbing. By far the most scary part of my repertoire.
It's my hope that this website conveys the passion we have for the mountains, the addiction or lets call it what it is, The Alpine Obsession that runs through our veins. If you end up following this website or blog, I hope our exploits keep you entertained. Right now it's all pretty basic, but my intent is to get some quality video footage via helmet cam on future trips to better bring home the experience. The palm sweats when your clinging by your fingers, the exhilaration of bombing down 1000s of feet of perfect powder.
